Our History

Here is a photo of the first Christ Episcopal Church building. The cornerstone was laid by Bishop J. F. Spaulding on July 31, 1876, and the first service was held there on Sunday, Dec. 17, 1876. It stood at the southwest corner of 5th and Macon and served the parish until the present church was erected in 1902. Please click here for more details of our history.

The historic church contains stunning woodwork, lovely stained glass windows, a spectacular pipe organ and many other wonderful attributes that reflect the glory of God. Some parishioners say they can feel the souls of those who came before us as they worship here.
